Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) is a technical training service provider owned by PETRONAS Technical Training Sdn. Bhd. Established in 1981, INSTEP was primarily set-up to train skilled technicians and operators in meeting the rapid growth of country`s petroleum industry. Initially known as Sekolah Latihan Teknikal PETRONAS, it subsequently changed its name to Institut Latihan Perindustrian Petroliam PETRONAS (ILPP).
INSTEP has since played a pivotal role in the oil and gas technical training services. To date, it has trained almost 10,000 technical staff in the various facet of the oil and gas industry in Malaysia. In complementing the oil and gas industries growing requirements for highly skilled workforce and professionals, INSTEP offers various programmes in three main area focus:
o Professional Development Program for executive and non-executive
o Bridging Programs for technicians and operators
o Competency-based Assessments & Certifications
INSTEP also provides significant services in the area of technical consultancy such as job profiling, customized training design and development, learning needs analysis, technical seminars and workshops.
The learning facilities and equipment in INSTEP have continuously been upgraded to align with the industrial development and requirements, particularly the workshops and labs in the field of Exploration and Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process and Analytical, and Mechanical. Additionally, INSTEP has 42 learning rooms and 3 amphitheatres to cater for various training activities.
In order to offer a wholesome learning environment, other support facilities are also available, i.e. INSTEP Residence, Cafeteria Mayang Sari, Masjid Al-Ehsan, Seri Gelam Hall, Sports Complex, Zamrud Resource Centre and IT labs
